Gilas Pilipinas, despite missing Jordan Clarkson, achieved an upset victory over host Latvia in the FIBA OQT, propelled by Justin Brownlee's near triple-double (26-9-9) and strong showing from Kai Sotto. The victory against Latvia puts Gilas Pilipinas in a promising position to advance to the OQT semifinals. On top of that, the Philippines claimed their first win against European opposition in an official FIBA competition since 1960.
