Outdoor specialty water repellents such as NIKWAX, Grangers, STORM, and Revivex are sold at mountaineering supply stores in Japan.

However, because these DWRs are designed to be processed at home, there is a significant difference in performance from the clothing DWRs sold in outdoor stores, and some users have complained about their performance.

Especially in Japan, where there is a lot of rainfall, its performance is reacted severely. Therefore, to make the re-DWR process more durable after product processing, we sought a way to re-do the DWR process at our factory.

We have been aware of the need for DWR processing under more severe conditions than during product manufacturing for 10 years, and after much research, we have launched DROPROOF, a factory-based DWR processing service, in Japan in 2015.

And in 2023, we started PFC-free DWR processing service.

So what difference can be made between DWR processing done at home and DWR processing done at the factory? A simple test can confirm this.

Of course, PFC coating with C6 type fluorine will give higher performance, but even PFC-free will be ISO level 4 or higher (AATCC 90 points or higher) in the spray test after 30 washes.
