Hollyoaks boss confirms two characters who survive cast cull
Hollyoaks is undergoing some major changes, including reducing to 3 episodes per week and a big cast cull.
Ben Wadey, Hollyoaks' commissioning executive, has announced that two of the characters who will survive the cast cuts are Mercedes McQueen and Ste Hay.
Mercedes has been at the center of major storylines this year, including giving birth to twins with two different fathers.
Ste's storylines have involved accidentally killing Warren's daughter Ella, and getting roped into the Blue revenge plot. He also cheated on his husband James Nightingale.
Wadey revealed that Hollyoaks will be "blowing a load of stuff up in good Hollyoaks fashion" in September, just before a time jump.
The final week of Hollyoaks before these changes kicks off on September 2 with 6 episodes and a recap special.
This will be followed by a 3-episode week with the big stunts, and then the time jump the week after.
Executive producer Hannah Cheers explained they had to decide whether the stunt would come first or the time jump, and tried different approaches.
