Unheimlich - The immersive experience (videogame)

"Unheimlich is an interactive digital space that, through gameplay, invites exploration of the subjective relationship between representation and reality. Like a form of imaginary archaeology, this virtual landscape merges elements from Mayan and Western cultures, combining the archaic, outdated, and contemporary.

The German term Unheimlich, composed of "un-" (not) and "heim" (home, familiar), translates as "unfamiliar." In his essay Das Unheimliche, Freud explores how the familiar can become strange and unsettling, a concept key to both the architectural and psychological aspects of this project.

Architecturally, Unheimlich examines the familiar and unfamiliar through speculative spaces of what no longer exists or never existed. Imagine traversing Newton's Cenotaph by Étienne-Louis Boullée or the Great Jaguar Temple pyramid in Tikal, not as ruins, but restored to their original splendor.

This project reimagines the latent potential of what has ceased to exist, bringing it back to life.Through its interactive nature, Unheimlich revives forgotten histories, merging art, architecture, and psychology into an immersive experience where objects reveal new dimensions. The assembly of these seemingly disparate objects and spaces encourages a rethinking of the relationship between the inanimate and the narratives we take for granted."
