Progressive collapse of a reinforced concrete frame is simulated by removing the central column and applying displacement increments at the top node (pushdown analysis). The numerical model is developed in OpenSees, employing a distributed plasticity macromodel with co-rotational geometric formulation for the frames. OpenSees offers two formulations for modeling nonlinear elements with fiber-section distributed plasticity: displacement-based and force-based. These formulations are calibrated using two parameters: the number of Gauss-Lobatto integration points and the number of element subdivisions.
