Throughout the centuries, there were many different methods of execution used to kill and take the life of a condemned criminal. But during the Second World War, there were many war crimes and harrowing executions carried out by the Germans and the German Army. Much of their crimes occurred inside of the concentration camps, with gas chambers killing millions in camps such as Auschwitz. But there was another execution chamber used by the SS and the Germans to kill and execute prisoners from the concentration camps and also other militaries.

The Genickschussanlage or the Neck Shooting Facility was a small execution chamber found in many different concentration camps. This was a small room, where the Nazis tricked prisoners of war to go inside of. At Buchenwald Concentration Camp, one Neck Shooting Facility was found where Soviet POWs were convinced to go inside and have a medical exam. They were ordered to get their height checked on a measuring device, but behind this was a small hole where once the prisoners were measuring their height, an executioner would shoot the prisoner in the neck killing them. At Buchenwald, 8000 Soviet POWs were killed in this way, but across the Third Reich there were many other Genickschussanlages created.
