A messy and awesome mission. If on EDF 5 sometimes the best way to solve a mission where you're supposed to use the Barga is to ignore it, story repeats itself. Even considering in this one you get the super Armament Barga with the armageddon weapon to play with.
It's one of the best missions in the game. Although it has 3 really powerful enemies, it's unlike the new super dragon ones which are mostly an RNG bore, which already happened in the same situations in EDF 4.1 and 5. Granted, you have the mega Barga if you want to deal with them differently, even for that too it's different from the boring ones.
The crucial objective in this mission is to keep as much as possible the 2 super NPC Proteus in tip-top shape. If you do that, they alone will be able to deal with the horde of cosmos and frogs, and lastly the 2 Erginus and the Arkelus.
This does require you to be very aggressive and take the burden of the 3 first waves. At first, it's very hard as your Ranger NPCs take forever to move their asses and help you, so it's you and the WDs. A large number of long-range plasma frogs attack too and they're deadly accurate so being hit by them is usual, and they do close to 1k damage with each shot they land. Remember that they will likely all home on you, once you hit any of them with the Z4 or Phobos. Also with the mess that the mission becomes it's difficult to even see their shots coming, let alone escape them. Until you have a vehicle it's VERY dangerous, hence the 2k armor. Always keep moving, but frankly, it's too much to deal with at the same time. The A4W isn't perfect, but let's face it turrets were not either but they had the advantage of being possible to spread and activate at the right time.
In the second wave taking some care with the King Spider is good, but I lost it probably because it was blown by a Phobos attack. Still worked thanks to a 105mm attack.
In the third, it's crucial to hit the termites wave with Phobos ASAP, then handle the Queen Ant yourself so that it doesn't turn the nearest Proteus into crap (105 mm will help here too).
In the 4th, try to get the multiple plasma frog that lands on the left of the Proteus, which usually runs to the back left, as he's the most dangerous of the pack. Use Z4 for the drones. It will take time but the 2 Proteus will finish all cosmos and frogs.
In the 5th use extensively Z4 and the backpack Guard Capsule A4W to handle tadpoles, they can make a mess with your Proteus too. NPCs will help a lot with this, keep feeding them whenever possible.
If you did things right you should have 3 Combat Frame Eiren IV when the last 3 huge enemies arrive. Deal with the Erginus using their cannon and lasers. Don't ever be overconfident on the Eiren IV lasers, they're nice but not very powerful. Between you and the Proteus you can easily deal with the Erginus. If they don't move you can stun them to death, I've had runs like that. Use 105mm too.
Arkelus is small stuff for the 2 Proteus as they definitely can handle him alone, and will stun him almost continuously, so just pick crates.
Like 109, this is a very interesting mission to do with the AR using old style weapons. Although you can easily die within the first minute, if you survive until the Nix arrives it becomes a lot easier. Not bad for weapons and pretty high level ones, but unlike 109 the end mission talk is pretty short. The Proteus work is most of the time awesome and VERY impressive. Hopefully they will be usable by the AR in the DLC, it would be absolutely awesome. You can use the super duper Barga but frankly, what for? I did it once, end of story. The 2 Proteus are much more awesome than the super Barga.
Takes around 15 minutes to finish the mission, so it's pretty quick.
Weapons I used are the Phobos Z Plan 4, the KM6 Plan Z4, the 105mm Cannon Z and Guard Capsule A4W. The Vulcan Cannon M2 is likely a better option than the 105mm due to its much faster reload. Weapon stats I had at the end of the video.
Old style weapons, aka EDF 5 ones, only work in missions with tons of enemies where you can get enough points for them to be viable.
I STRESS the importance of moving the Z4 shots away from the Titan and Proteus as much as possible. The theory that they can be used over them is crap. They can damage them extensively due to their big hit area.
This is a primary example on how taking care of NPCs is so important in many missions, and the huge role they play.
