Man killed, two seriously injured in east port of spain gun attack — 5.56 shell casings recovered.

A man was killed, and two others were injured during a shooting in East Port of Spain on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Dwayne Simon.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. On February 19, 2026, at the Mango Rose housing complex, where residents reported hearing a series of loud gunshots.

Upon investigating, witnesses saw a group of armed men fleeing the scene and discovered Simon and two other men from the community on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers from the inter-agency task force, who were nearby at a school, responded within minutes. Simon was unresponsive when police arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two injured men were taken to Port of Spain General Hospital, where they remain in serious condition.

Officers from the Besson Street police station, the homicide bureau, and the Port of Spain division responded.
