At Beautiful North and Brouhaha Festival
Young People are being asked to share their views on what would make Anfield a better place to live and to visit. Last Saturday the consultation team from So-Mo teamed up with local Artist Nicola Taggart and the kids from Positive Futures to create a mural, live at the Beautiful North Festival in Stanley Park.

Changing facilities, skate parks and more arts and cultural activities were just some of the ideas the young people came up with to improve their area. But instead of writing their ideas down, the young people joined with other children visiting the park to create a six-foot high mural live at the festival.

The day-long festival which was part of Brouhaha International saw Stanley Park transformed into a vibrant carnival; as bands and artists from around the world performed alongside North Liverpool's home-grown local talent.
Ann O'Byrn Cabinet Member for Housing says:
"The animation of parks tells you so much about what is going on a community and days like today demonstrate that Anfield is a vibrant active place where people want to come along and take part in activities"

Nicola Wass -- Partner at So-Mo says:
"Young people are not only the future of the area they are very much part of present day Anfield. They know what they like about the area, what they want to see changed and have some very practical ideas on how Anfield can become a place they and their families can enjoy"

The Anfield Project is led by Liverpool City Council with support from Your Housing Group, Liverpool Football Club and other partners including Keepmoat Ltd. The initial consultation period for the regeneration of Anfield is now drawing to a close.

The ideas and concepts which have been shared and developed in discussion with the local community includes new housing, shopping facilities, public space, office buildings, a hotel and the creation of a major new pedestrian-friendly avenue and public square.

There is also a proposal to complete the restoration of Stanley Park and to build a food hub at its centre which would offer food retail units, production and training facilities.
As part of the scheme, Liverpool Football Club has stated its preference is to expand its stadium subject to detailed feasibility studies and the community and home owners support.
