Finally got my veg plot dug, forked and tilled after the recent awful weather.Wasn't looking forward to it but I managed to pull my finger out and get it done.Surprised at how well the soil was in the raised beds after the flooding but maybe it's down to me not having dug it over in the Winter and just left compost on the top to allow the worms to take it down and improve the drainage.
It's been a bit of a No dig experiment due to the weather, but I might be sold on the idea as the soil broke down so easily with the hand tiller even without the Winter dig , I know you aren't supposed to break down the soil but I've just done the top few inches to get it ready for seed sowing..
Anyway that's the main job done, now just a bit of raking in the next few weeks and it'll be time to sow a few vegetable seeds and get the growing season started.
First off will be the Garlic in a few weeks then a few early potatoes.
