Het gedicht is van C.S. Meer dan een paar initialen heb ik niet, ik heb het gedicht in ongeveer 1998 gekregen via een nieuwsgroep en het gedicht sprak mij enorm aan. Ik vond deze muziek er wel bij passen...

AWARENESS

I have to admit that my feelings took me by storm
I never thought that I could have all this in me
Without knowing what it was, or is
I have always been happy being myself
I never wanted to change who I was
Until now

I thought life was suppose to be a fun learning
Adventure, so far all I have received is pain
I can't even think about what it is I am searching for
It takes all my feelings and throws them
Clear across the room.
I have went threw a lot but I was never lost
In my own mind, I always had choices
Until now

Now I feel like I am trapped without a way out
Trapped in something I can not stop
Something that is a part of me
I want to change all the things that could have prevented this,
But I know that it would drive me to my death
Not knowing what it is about me
That makes me different and yet still myself.
I have grown to accept all that is given to me
And to always remember the better things in our lives
I have my children , a loving husband
But yet there is more to me than that.

I want my soul, my mind back again.
I want to take back every thought
Every memory of my adventure
And loose it in amongst my saner moments.
I want to have my life with all I love in it
Without the heartache.

It seemed like my life was so much easier
So much more enjoyable
When I wasn't thinking about all the things
That seem different, out of control
I wish I only had eyes for one person
A man, that would make things easier
Without the glances and emptiness inside me
What can I do to get rid of these?
I can not forget about them
Because they are a part of me
I can not hide from them
Because they are inside me

I think about before I knew
Before I knew what it is called
I was so much more open
So much more easy going
Now I hide who I am from everyone
In case they do not approve
Honestly it doesn't matter what they approve of
Because I can not change
That's it
I can not change who I am
I finally figured it out.
I am who I am
And I am the only one who has to accept it
I am ME.
