INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE THE BLANKET
Materials: Fabric, scissors (or rotary cutter), sewing machine, thread, DMC floss, an expensive comforter (don't buy down - you'll be cutting it and feathers would be everywhere!).

Blanket sizing: Mine is 48" (122 cm) x 68" (173). I think this is a great size for a couch blanket, but you can make yours in whatever size you want!

1. Make your blanket top and bottom (both should be the same size). If you are using standard 44" (112 cm) wide fabric, you'll need to sew panels together to make it wide enough! If you want to do a quilted top like mine, I used this tutorial to make the half triangle squares:    • 3 Ways to Make 1/2 Square Triangles

2. Lay out your comforter on the floor. Lay either your top or bottom piece on top of the comforter (it doesn't matter which one), and cut your comforter to match the piece in size.

3. Lay out your comforter on the floor. Lay your bottom piece on top of the comforter RIGHT SIDE UP. Lay your top piece on top of the bottom piece RIGHT SIDE DOWN.

4. Pin all three pieces together and then sew it all up, leaving about an 8" (20 cm) opening on one side so you can turn it right side out.

5. Trim the raw edges of your blanket with pinking shears, then turn it right side out. Sew up the opening you left.

6. Using DMC floss and an embroider needle, thread the floss through all three layers of fabric and tie a little knot! Do that in even spacing across the width and length of the quilt.

And that's it!
