Short, medium and long-term corruption trends for Uganda and other East African countries are presented in this video using scores published by Transparency International in their 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) report. The video reviews Uganda’s performance in addressing corruption in the periods 2012-2023, 2018-2023 and 2022-2023.

Uganda’s CPI score deteriorated in 2012-2023. The country’s CPI score declined in 2012-2016, partially recovered in 2016-2019 and then declined again in 2019-2022.

The rate of decline in Uganda’s CPI score in 2012-2023 was materially greater than the rate of decline in average East African, African and global CPI scores in this period. The country’s CPI score was unchanged in 2018-2023, a period when average East African and African CPI scores recorded overall advances.

Uganda’s CPI score was below average East African, African and global CPI scores continuously throughout 2012-2023. #corruption #uganda #eastafrica
