Two deeply moving events in the final days of Jesus' earthly ministry:
At a dinner in Bethany, Mary Magdalene (or a woman of deep devotion) pours expensive perfume on Jesus' feet, wipes them with her hair, and weeps — an act of extravagant love and worship.
Judas complains about the "waste," but Jesus defends her:
*“She has done a beautiful thing to me… she did it to prepare me for burial. Wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”*
A beautiful picture of sacrificial love and foreshadowing of the cross.
On the night of Passover, Jesus gathers His disciples for **the Last Supper**.
He washes their feet as an example of humble service, then breaks bread and pours wine:
*“This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me. This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”*
He reveals Judas will betray Him, and gives the new commandment: *“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”*
The institution of communion and the promise of the Holy Spirit ahead.
