For the holiday season 2022 I am making a holiday stocking in 3 component parts and videos -

Heel and Toe

All of my videos are "MIX AND MATCH" series which means you can make one cuff and use it with another stocking and vice versa. If you want a seamless look you work in the round. If you want a back and forth ribbed stitch or are changing colors a lot you most likely want to work back and forth and stitch up the back of the stocking. It depends on the look you are wanting to achieve from your holiday crocheted stocking.

For all of my videos I am using the following-
Craftsmart 4 medium yarn
size I-9, 5.5mm USA crochet hook
scissors
stitch markers (if you need them)
plastic needle with large eye

My stockings general are 39 to 45 stitches across and if you are stitching down the back you will lose two stitches to the seam of the crocheted stocking.

If you want to crochet a stocking cuff or crochet a stocking in the round you chain as many as you want and then SLIP stitch in the very first chain you created and then start working in the round until you get to approximately 10" down on a ruler - then it is time to start the heel. IF you want a super long stocking like a nordic look then you can double the amount of rows and stitch approx 20" down.

If you are making a cuff to MATCH the stitch of your stocking just "rolling it over" on the top will not achieve the crochet look and/or same stitch look. This is because you are looking at the BACK of the crochet stocking stitch.

You have to add it separately and you can still work in the round but you work in the OPPOSITE direction of the crochet stitch that you did for the stocking in order for it to look the same when you fold the cuff over and add the crochet hook at the end. My crochet hooks are simply a single crochet - about 17 stitches total and then I darn it in using a crochet plastic darning needle with large plastic eye.

This is a solid color and you can add different types of holiday appliqués or a name to the stocking if you prefer. I have been adding snowflakes this holiday season in white to my stockings.

The other thing I generally do not do when I am crocheting holiday stockings is to do the boot part in white or the cuff in white because of the staining or DISCOLORATION you will get if you are actually lighting a fireplace with wood. We use our fireplace and everything tends to yellow over time so I like to stick to the dark colors that are machine washable with an acrylic yarn.

More per skein for the money.
Nice holiday colors and I like the mushroom and wine color (wine color used in this stocking)
Two craftsmart yarns used in this stocking:
Wine
Ivy green

You can use 2 to 3 colors of your own choosing but be sure you use the SAME WEIGHT. always look at the suggestion panel on the wrapper of your yarn to see what they suggest for a crochet hook / size of the hook - they make suggestions for a good reason and have tried this out and have experience - we tend to forget to look at the packaging and read the directions for crocheting.

These stockings that are crocheted use the very basic stitches and we are not doing any fancy patterns for this holiday season. Also, you can make at least two stockings from a skien of yarn if you are using two colors.
I made two stockings with the ivy and wine color and have some left over to do other projects with.

How long does it take you to crochet a holiday stocking. It depends on how fast you crochet but it typically takes me a couple of hours from start to finish to complete a 41 row stocking that is approximately 12 inches total down.

When crocheting and talking about a seamless stocking it is referring to working in the round or working to the end of the row, chaining one, and continuing in the round. Working in the round using the same single crochet stitch will result in a different look than if you are working across the crochet row and chaining one and turning and then stitching up the back of your stocking.
