Material Science: Solar Cells on Flexible Substrates

Описание к видео Material Science: Solar Cells on Flexible Substrates

The defense and consumer industries have long sought ways to turn solar energy into electrical power with a compelling union of lightweight, high-efficiency, power density and acceptable cost.

The priority of ultrahigh efficiency is more critical when the form factor – of an airframe, unmanned aerial vehicle, mobile device, or fabric – is dictated by its principal function and the energy-harvesting material must be wrapped around this framework.

In this seminar, we will cover the following:

- What are liquid-processed (ink) solar cells based on perovskites?
- How does roll-to-roll manufacture of flexible and lightweight solar cells proceed?
- How have perovskites managed to break the traditional compromise of flexibility vs. efficiency? What is the role of multijunction (multiple bandgap) technology?
- What remains to achieve the reliability and manufacturability needed for real impact at scale?
