On October 3, 2025, U.S. Army Soldiers from the 1st Brigade and 2nd Brigade, 11th Airborne Division executed advanced winter operations in Alaska, highlighting their commitment to mastering combat in the world’s harshest environments.

The 11th Airborne Division, also known as the Arctic Angels, was reactivated on June 6, 2022 with a renewed mission: to dominate in extreme cold-weather and mountainous terrain. These operations demonstrate their ability not only to survive in Arctic conditions, but to fight, maneuver, and win against any adversary in this unforgiving domain.

Chief of Staff of the Army, Gen. James C. McConville, underscored this mission by stating: “I expect every soldier of this Division to be masters of their craft, of Arctic Warfare.” His vision defines the role of the 11th Airborne—to lead as the Army’s Arctic-focused force, capable of defending U.S. interests in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
