Motorcycle and bicycle theft is a serious problem, especially in large cities. If you don't secure your bike, a thief can roll it away and load it on a truck. Locking handlebars only do so much and can be broken with enough force.

There are many different security options on the market, ranging from disk locks to chains to D locks. I had the opportunity to test the LiteLok X1, which is considered one of the toughest locks on the market. The manufacturer even claims that it is resistant to angle grinder attacks.

This lock held up incredibly well to a hammer and chisel with minimal damage. Using an angle grinder with a standard cutting disk, this lock also performed incredibly well. It took around 1 min 40 seconds to chew through the first disk. And that wasn't even enough to complete one cut.

With anti-rotation technology, a thief would need to perform two cuts to fully remove the lock. I then tried a diamond coated cutting wheel that you can readily find in any hardware store. The X1 put up a good fight, taking around 1 min 15 seconds to complete the cuts.

No anti-theft device can completely prevent your motorcycle from getting stolen, so mitigation is key. The LiteLok X1 makes it much more difficult for a would-be thief to remove the lock. Angle grinders make a ton of noise and sparks, which would alert nearby people, potentially foiling an attempt to steal.
