Moka Pot Vs Aeropress: Two pressure brewers compared

Описание к видео Moka Pot Vs Aeropress: Two pressure brewers compared

The moka pot and the Aeropress are two very popular methods to make coffee. Both methods utilize pressure, but the resulting coffee is strikingly different.

Moka pots are also known as stoveteop coffee makers or percolators. Water is heated up in a bottom chamber, where it turns into steam, rises up through a bed of coffee grounds, up a pipe, and into a cup or a pouring chamber.

The high pressure brewing results in quite an intense cup of coffee and the taste is said to have shades of the intensity of an espresso shot. There is also quite bit of crema formation.

Moka pot coffee is intense, and the one I use is good for brewing a shot. There are larger moka pots as well which you can use to brew a full 6 ounce cup.

The Aeropress is a very simple device but it brews nearly unbeatable coffee. A brewing chamber is filled with coffee grounds and water, to which a filter basket with a paper filter is attached.

You just need to stir the slurry for 10 seconds, insert the plunger, and begin plunging down. Keep plunging until you hit the bed of coffee grounds.

The resulting coffee shot is even more intense than that of a moka pot. You can drink the shot straight, or dilute it for an Americano.

The Aeropress is easier to clean up and is much more versatile as you can brew many different types of coffees thanks to the variety of recipes available online.

Cost wise, both are very similar.
