Starting pitchers RHP Sean Bergman (3-6) for San Diego and RHP Greg Maddux (5-5) for Atlanta. Braves have lost 7 of their past 10 Games while San Diego has been struggling losing 9 of their last 10. Braves with a run in the bottom of the 1st on a balk call followed by an RBI single from 1B Fred McGriff. Braves score 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd on a 2-RBI double from 3B Chpper Jones and a passed ball from Padre catcher Brian Johnson.
Greg Maddux has another great outing, pitching 8 innings giving up 1 run on just 4 Padre hits. Braves reliever Mark Wohlers pitches the 9th and gives up 1st Major League Homerun to Padre rookie 1B Jason Thompson a 2-run shot, Thompson who played only 13 games in his Big League career. Maddux with the win (his 6th) and Sean Bergman with the loss.
