Partners in Development Foundation is one of the top 10 outstanding finalists projects for the $90 million Racial Equity 2030 Challenge by W.K. Kellogg Foundation, an open call for bold solutions to drive an equitable future for children, families, and communities across the globe.

We are proud to share the “Kawailoa: A Transformative Indigenous Model to Replace Youth Incarceration” project that supports youth to find their roles as healers and community contributors by replacing youth incarceration with a #NativeHawaiian restorative system that empowers communities, trains youth healers, and shifts resources to community-driven and culturally-grounded puʻuhonua, sanctuaries of support, for opportunity youth.

Our community of partners, PIDF, Kawailoa Youth and Family Wellness Center, HYCF, Hale Kipa, Inc., Kinai Eha, RYSE: Residential Youth Services & Empowerment, Olomana School, UCLA Asian American Studies Center, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Kamehameha Schools, and Liliuokalani Trust builds on decades of experience and commitment to make this project a reality.
