YWAM Resonate and YWAM Riga have joined in giving bread as a symbol of God's love to the people of the Baltic nations. The project began in the capital of Latvia at the Missions Days event.

The Bread Project is seeing strong beginnings in Latvia after a time of encouragement among fellow believers at last weeks Mission Days conference. There, we were given the opportunity of presenting the project together with local YWAM missionaries. Bread was given to the crowd of believers and it was explained they could freely receive this gift of love to keep or share with others. In following days we received various reports of residents taking the project as their own and giving bread in public places such as streets, trams, and bus stations. Through giving bread, they have found a way to show Gods love to those with not only material needs, but deep spiritual needs. Many Latvians expressed joy at finding a practical way they could reach their communities everyday. They are seeing they, too, can be missionaries, even when unable to go to distant lands. The poor and homeless are among those finding themselves able and eager to share. We see the symbol of bread for the Baltics changing from a representation of pain and loss by Communism, to a symbol of dependency on God alone and love for one another.
