Hiking the Yoho Valley

Описание к видео Hiking the Yoho Valley

In September (2021) I enjoyed 3 great days backpacking solo into the beautiful Yoho Valley and Emerald Lake area of B.C., just west of Banff National Park.

While the distances each day weren’t huge, the scenery sure was. This is an area I hiked several times back in the late 70’s and early 80's and it was great to get back there to experience some of the nicest views one will see in the Canadian Rockies, in “lesser known” Yoho National Park.

The word “Yoho” comes from the Cree language, and is an expression for wonder, amazement, or awe. And Yoho National Park has lots of that! Takakkaw Falls, Angels Staircase Falls, Laughing Falls, Twin Falls, the Whaleback, the Little Yoho Valley, the Iceline Trail, Yoho Lake, Emerald Lake … all packed into one amazing hike.

My wife was kind enough to meet me for lunch at Emerald Lake Lodge when I finished the hike, and then gave me a ride back to my car which was parked at the Takakkaw Falls parking lot.
