Most people are trying to make a mini golf swing and that doesn't work. Chipping is more like putting than it is a golf swing. To chip properly the motion is more like a bunt in baseball. You don't need a big followthrough unless you're trying to flop the ball and that's a whole different ball game. Chipping isn't has hard as most people think. You must use the same club most of the time so that you become calibrated as to how hard to hit the ball. If you're always using different clubs around the green you'll never truly learn how hard to hit the ball.
