Religious Significance:

Purattasi is believed to be the month when Lord Vishnu descends to Earth in the form of Lord Venkateswara. As such, many Hindus, particularly Vaishnavites (followers of Vishnu), observe Purattasi Viratham (fasting) during this month to seek blessings, health, and prosperity.
Fasting (Viratham):

Devotees often undertake fasting on Saturdays during this month, known as Purattasi Sani. This is considered a powerful way to honor Lord Vishnu and cleanse the body and mind.
Some people avoid eating non-vegetarian food, while others abstain from consuming rice, opting for fasting foods like fruits and offerings made to the deity.
Saturdays in Purattasi:

Purattasi Saturdays are especially sacred for offering prayers to Lord Vishnu. Many devotees visit Vishnu temples, perform special poojas, and sing devotional hymns or bhajans.
Devotional Practices:

During Purattasi, homes and temples are decorated with flowers and lamps. Devotees offer special prayers, recite Vishnu Sahasranama (1000 names of Vishnu), and perform Tirupati Venkateswara Suprabhatham.
Some also visit the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh, which is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Lord Venkateswara worship.
