United States President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to revert the name of the country's defence department, or the Pentagon, to the Department of War, saying the move is "much more appropriate, especially in light of the world right now".

Until 1949, the US Department of Defence was called the Department of War, but was changed to signal the nation's focus on preventing wars, according to historians.
