Food Coop Cooks – Nowruz Persian New Year Recipes

Описание к видео Food Coop Cooks – Nowruz Persian New Year Recipes

In this virtual class, Siavash Haghtalab will teach traditional Nowruz dishes. Nowruz is the most celebrated Persian holiday in most Farsi-speaking countries and signifies the Spring equinox, the new year, and new life of nature. He will be cooking Tahchin (crispy rice cake with saffron) with crispy skin salmon and Baghali Ghatogh (fava bean stew), a dish from northern Iran.

Siavash Haghtalab was born and raised in Iran in a family of musicians. From an early age, he helped his mom in the kitchen and now has a passion for cooking, especially Persian cuisine with its complex flavors and spices. Before starting college, Siavash began his cooking journey by taking Venezuelan cooking classes to better his technique and learn how other cultures approach food.

After moving to the United States in 2012, Siavash continued experimenting with different cuisines, stepping into the world of American BBQ, developing a passion for Asian cuisine, and continuing to grow his skills in Persian cuisine, especially kabobs and stews from Khorasan, the region his parents were born in. Siavash currently works as an engineering manager in tech, but he enjoys experimenting with his grill in the backyard and frequently invites people over to share his love of food on the weekends.
