Advice from an Environmental Engineer PhD at UCLA

What goes into applying and getting into grad school? What does the daily life of a Graduate Engineering student look like?

UCLA PhD candidate Alex Polasko sits down with Working in Science to talk all things environmental engineering and give some advice to aspiring environmental engineers.

Alex loves the interdisciplinary nature of the environmental engineering field. Her research focuses on ground water and using bacteria to clean the water and tap into our existing resources in a sustainable and green way. Alex uses bacteria in her research and works in a wet lab.

She does interdisciplinary research and collaboration with other researchers in the earth sciences fields. Participating in internship programs and working in a lab and as an intern helped to inform her decision to go to graduate school.
