Torqueing Up hubs with sealed bearings for Al-ko, BPW, Knott, Caravans and Ifor williams Trailers

Описание к видео Torqueing Up hubs with sealed bearings for Al-ko, BPW, Knott, Caravans and Ifor williams Trailers

This video shows removing and refitting a hub with a sealed bearing.
Its important that these hubs are torqued properly as the bearings need the correct torque for the bearing to operate correctly and give an optimum life.

All the hub nuts should be replaced when removed due to the high torque used on these hub nuts.

Most of these nuts have a way to secure them on the shaft most are oval making them tight and when used it will open them slightly stopping them gripping the shaft if used again. The Ifor williams nut in this video has a ring that you knock in to secure.

Torque settings

Knott used on P Series, X series and Y series hubs have an M24 thread and 32mm head these are torqued to 280Nm

Alko have 2 Nuts 1 used on 160 and 200mm Brakes these are M24 with 32mm Head and the 230mm brake has M27 Thread with 36mm Head Both are tightened to 280-300Nm

Please note the 230mm brake on an Alko Axle can have a bolt in stub axle it is strongly recommended not to use Impact tools on these hub nuts as it can make the stub axle become loose and it can spin altering the caster / camber.

Ifor williams are M30 Thread 46mm Head these are tightened to 350Nm

BPW 2 Nuts M24 with a 32mm Head tightened to 280Nm and M27 with a 41mm head this is tightened to 330Nm.
