As a two time Olympic Gold Medalist, David Wise has been through the highs and the lows of athletic success. David explores society’s definition of success and proposes a new one. By taking the audience through his three runs at the Winter Olympic Games, David expands upon what he believes to be “true success”, and asks the audience to walk away believing that they truly cannot fail. Reno native David Wise is a professional skier, adventure seeker, a four-time X Games Champion, and a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist in halfpipe skiing. At 28 years young, David is also a father of two. He considers parenting his highest calling and credits his wife, his family and his faith for his success and his ability to live a multi-faceted, balanced lifestyle. In March 2018 David published his first children’s book, “Very Bear and the Butterfly.” Having grown up in the Reno Tahoe area, David is more comfortable outside than inside. He competes in archery, rides mountain bikes and dirt bikes, plays softball, hunts and fishes in what he calls his “giant Nevada backyard.” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
