The Mount Brown Hut Track - New Zealand Hiking

One of the best overnight hikes of my life with my oldest friends:) So happy we made it to the other side of the world and got a chance to do this!

This is the mount brown hut track, 5.2 mile or 8.3 km trail near Hokitika, West Coast, South Island, NZ.

Mt Brown Hut is located on a route that is no longer maintained by DOC. This route receives some maintenance on a sporadic basis by Permolat, who also provide information about the route to this hut on their website. Located above the bushline on the West ridge of Mt Brown, which is an outlier of the Newton Range. On clear days there are views of the Southern Alps, Lake Kaniere, and the coastal plain.
