Why long-range Western MLRS can become a game-changer .
The United States and the United Kingdom are sending multiple missile launch systems (MLRS) to Ukraine. Ukrainian experts believe that this will be a turning point in the Russia-Ukraine war and could change the situation in favor of Ukraine. On May 31, it was discovered that the United States had decided to supply the M142 HIMARS multiple rocket launcher. The next day, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he assured Ukraine that it would not target Russian territory with the US long-range weapons system. On June 6, UK Defense Minister Ben Wallace announced that the UK would deploy the M270 Launcher. This is another weapon developed by the United States that is used in several long-range missile attacks. Experts at the Kyiv-based Defense Strategy Center (CDS) believe that the Western Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) can determine a win in favor of Ukraine in Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
According to CDS experts, one of the main trends in regional conflicts in recent decades has been contactless combat, which makes heavy use of precision weapons. Conflicts involve the use of reconnaissance and attack systems operating in a single information space, and multi-missile launch systems are the basis of the shooting effect on enemies in these systems.
