What is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)?

Описание к видео What is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)?

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, primarily to alleviate symptoms of major depression. This brain stimulation therapy employs electromagnetic pulses to activate nerve cells, potentially improving symptoms of various neurological or mental health disorders.

TMS is mainly used to treat depression, especially when standard treatments like medication and psychotherapy are ineffective. It works by inducing an electric current in a specific area of the brain through a changing magnetic field. Besides depression, TMS is sometimes used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and migraines, and may also be prescribed to help people quit smoking after other treatments have failed.

If you think TMS might benefit you, ask your primary care provider for a referral to a Community behavioral health provider or contact us for an appointment at https://eCommunity.com/behavioralhealth.
