Welcome to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent. It is the fourth entry in the Splinter Cell franchise and features Sam Fisher as the protagonist as his daughter's death sends him down a downward spiral until he accepts the riskiest mission of his career: to infiltrate a terrorist organisation as a Double Agent in a mission that is known only to him and his handler, Irving Lambert. The game features Stealth along with the light and shadow mechanics that the franchise is known for even though the light mechanic has been greatly simplified. The game focuses more on scripted events and action-packed sequences rather than a smooth tactical infiltration experience, marking a turning point in the series.

As Sam Fisher flies over the sea twenty kilometres away from Akureyri, he trains a protege under his wing. His mission is to investigate a Geothermal Powerplant in the region because of suspicious intercepts caught by SIGINT.

Eager to please, his trainee jumps the gun before Sam. However, it soon turns out that the power plant is actually being protected by terrorists and that this situation might just be too much for Sam's trainee to handle. Sam protests and tells Lambert to pull him back, but Irving does not listen.

Sam infiltrates the Powerplant to find the engineers within working on a Missile. Given the stakes at hand and how the missile was already about to launch, Sam could not wait around while Lambert figured out a solution.

Instead, he took matters into his own hand and bypassed the circuitry to make sure that the missile would not take off. However, with less than a minute left, it would still explode and everyone within would be microwaved in an instant.

Taking the opportunity, Sam escapes the confines of the plant into the safety of his Osprey. That is when Lambert breaks the news to him that his daughter, Sarah, is dead.
