TCL Portacool 1HP Portable Air Conditioner

Foreword:

This has been my daily driver to cool, the TCL portable air conditioner. Purchased last year of around May or June. And so far I have no complaints, it works as it should, and it's a real air conditioner.

Modification:

I did some modification of this unit specifically to aid its noise. The sound absorbing material will absorb some of the sound reflection within the housing of the unit. Since it is almost hallow where the compressor is in place.

The compressor doesn't have any sound deadening material but I believe the higher model of this unit has some of it including the sound absorption at the front housing.

I did put some cheap sound deadening material to its compressor and the exhaust fan enclosure and it made a huge difference. There is also a sound absorbing material at the front housing in which is I forgot to take a picture.

For air filters, I've added a (I don't really know what it's called) but it is a tape similar to window screen and its sticky. I called it screen tape. Just to name it. Basically it acts like a magnet to capture dust when it reaches the filter to prevent it from getting inside the evaporator coils. Enhancing the filter effectiveness without affecting its airflow.

For the exhaust air intake, I used the same screen tape I called to act like a mesh to prevent insects from getting inside the unit and also to act as a dust magnet. I've used much denser filter thing before but it affects the performance of the unit.

This unit originally doesn't come with an exhaust intake filter.
