This Halloween-colored painting celebrates everything I love about the fall. The light shining through the maple trees creates intriguing patterns of light and shadow across the grass. Thick brush strokes of oil paint laid side-by-side, without layering, create an impactful mosaic of color and texture across the canvas. This painting was created in my signature Open Impressionism style.

This was my first attempt at painting an abstract pile of maple leaves. I loved creating patterns of color and contrast to keep the eye continually moving through the piece. The dark shadows of the green leaves make the lighter golden leaves pop with life and vivacity. Thickly applied strokes of oil paint add dimension to the leaves.
