Neve 33609 J/D VS Stam 609 - Compressor Shootout

Описание к видео Neve 33609 J/D VS Stam 609 - Compressor Shootout

Well, I've waited well over a year for this unit - so I thought I would share a video showcasing the Neve 33609 J/D vs the Stam 609.

I have done my best to optimize the volume differences, as the stepped attenuators on the units aren't perfect on the same settings. In addition, the threshold on the the J/D seems a touch more sensitive than the Stam, despite the same cables and length at 6'.

Here are the settings:

Ratio: 2:1
Gain: +2
Recovery: A1
Threshold: set to react in similar fashion throughout the song (+8 Neve and +4 Stam).

Limiters are off in this example, and I'm using a Fab-Filter Limiter to monitor gain structure. -1db True Peak.

Clock: Burl B2 Bomber
Interface: UAD Apollo x8

Integrated LUFS are normalised, meaning my incoming signal back to interface is within roughly 0.3db of the other unit at all times. The differences you hear in volume are moreso the way the compressors are affecting low-mids and top end.

Both of these units sport the Carnhill transformers and the 440 cards.

No, I did not use matching diamond plated Mogami cables and I also likely did something someone would have done differently. I'm sure I will hear about it in the comments. Ha! Enjoy everyone.
