How to tie them up the easy way for recreational crabbers to learn. It's very important to tie up the mudcrabs as you catch them. It's stops them from damaging themselves when you put them in a tub with holes in it to let the water out when you cool them down. plus it's a lot safer for the crabber Haha.

How to check if the crab is full of meat.

The last crab I tied up was a really good size for my area. He was probably about 2 kgs. That's nothing like the mudcrabs they catch down at Stanage Bay just south of us, they can get up to 4kgs, bloody monsters. I have a good friend there that I have known for a long time. Phil Mitchell he and I used to do some professional fishing together and have a couple of drinks and lot of fun. Not sure if Phil is still fishing and crabbing, I think his sons are pro fishing and crabbing.

You need to keep your mudcrabs in the boat cool and moist. The hot sun in North Queensland is not good for them, sometimes they will die before you get home from fishing.
