Stunning - the brilliant Montjeu saunters to Classic success at the Curragh in the 1999 Budweiser Irish Derby under jockey Cash Asmussen for trainer John Hammond and owner Michael Tabor.

Winner of the Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) last time out, Montjeu landed the premier Irish Classic before signing off his three-year-old campaign in Europe's most prestigious race, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Montjeu returned to the track as a four-year-old, and won three more top-level prizes - the Tattersalls Gold Cup, the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

A top-class colt, Montjeu proved a top-class sire before his untimely death in 2012. He sired an abundance of Derby winners, including Authorized, Motivator and Camelot, in addition to a host of other Classic winners and top-class talents including Saint Nicholas Abbey and world-record Grade 1 winner over the jumps, Hurricane Fly.

His legacy lives on...
