This is Van Johnson and Esther Williams' first of 5 films together and became the eighth-highest grossing film of 1945. While abandoned in a Sierra Nevada resort on her honeymoon by a workaholic husband, Esther (Connie) meets up with Army decorated war hero Van (Tommy) enjoying R&R. Connie gives Tommy swimming lessons and the romantic plot thickens. Van's parody of Esther's swimming is choice. Esther wrote in her autobiography that she discreetly held up athletically built Van with a well placed hand in some of the swimming scenes. When the film premiered at Grauman's Egyptian Theater, Johnson's fans stole and tore bits of clothing as well as ripped out patches of his hair.
