Rather than going through this entire process of auditioning , experiencing a hectic selection process , doing society chores and being available for the society work isn't it better to just chill in the college canteen?

Well, well well are you too of the perception that College Societies are a Total Time Waste & why do we even need to participate in them?

So let me tell you that I have been a part of 4 college societies during my bachelor's degree at Sri Venkateswara College , Delhi University and trust me being a part of even 1 college society/organisation will change your life for gooooood!
Not an exhaustive list but it will surely help in the following things :

1. CONFIDENCE & EXPOSURE :
You'll get to meet a lot of people from different courses and cultural backgrounds , these people would be from different parts of the country studying varied courses and hence you will be able to make friends outside your class.
This interaction will surely help you gain confidence.
Also in this journey you will get multiple opportunities to speak up in front of a gathering and if you climb up the ladder maybe address a gathering too.

2. CHANCE TO SHOWCASE TALENT :
There are various inter department , department , college , inter college events where you can participate & represent your society. This is definitely the biggest stage you can get in your college days to gain recognition and show your talent.

3. FREE ATTENDANCE : Technically, it's not FREE but yaa there is a fixed % of attendance that students get at the end of the year , not sure if all the societies and colleges have this but I did get this.

4. CASH PRIZES :
When you participate in the competitions you will get this chance to win amazing cash prizes & exciting coupons.

5. CV BUILDING :
You are in a college society/organisation , isn't this amazing to showcase in your resume?

College Societies are a SUPER interesting way to explore new & different things in college. As much as it is suggested to try these out it is useful to know about some secret tricks to crack their interviews and auditions from someone who has already done that.

Here are 3 tips by which you can CRACK almost every College Society!

1. Do your homework : What does the Society do and what EXTRA can you contribute towards it. It will simply give you an upper hand.

2. Bring out your TALENT, Showcase it & Let it flow naturally.

3. Show interest in the Society & it's activities. Speak up that you will be available and give your contribution in the organisation.
