UH-72 Lakota Helicopters at Fort Rucker, Alabama for Training

Описание к видео UH-72 Lakota Helicopters at Fort Rucker, Alabama for Training

From the Army: "B-Roll of UH-72 Lakota helicopters, including flights of the first six Initial Entry Rotary Wing Common Core students from Class 21-21 to solo in the Lakota, at Fort Rucker on Sept. 11, 2021. Imagery gathered at Cairns Army Airfield and Allen Stagefield".
The UH-72 Lakota is designed by Eurocopter (Airbus Helicopters) based on the commercial Eurocopter EC145. It was selected by the U.S. Army in 2006 to be the service's new Light Utility Helicopter (LUH). It replaces aging UH-1 and OH-58 helicopters in the Army and Army National Guard inventories. The UH-72 can perform homeland security, administrative, logistic, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) and army test and training duties. The Army does not consider the Lakota suitable for combat deployment, and modifications to make it combat-ready are said to be too costly. But the Lakota's use stateside releases other helicopters, like UH-60s, for overseas service.
The UH-72 is built by Airbus in Columbus, Mississippi. After initially assembling kits from Europe, full domestic production of UH-72s began in 2009. The UH-72 has a top speed of 153 mph and cruises at 90 mph.
