2016 Nissan Maxima - Seat Adjustments

Look for this switch on the side of your seat. Slide it forward or backward and the seat will move in that direction.

This switch can also be used to adjust the height and angle of the seat. Move the front or rear end of the switch up or down to adjust the angle of the cushion. Then push down or pull up on the middle of the switch to adjust the height.

To recline the seat, push this switch backward until you achieve the desired position. To bring the back upright, push the switch forward.

The lumbar support feature provides lower back support to the driver.


If your vehicle is equipped with a power lumbar support, push the front end of this switch to extend the lumbar support, or push the back end to retract it.

Some models are equipped with a thigh extension for the driver’s seat which allows the front portion of the seat to be extended for additional comfort. To adjust it, pull up and hold this lever to adjust the extension forward or backward to the desired position.

There are two ways to fold the rear seat down. To fold the seat down from the passenger compartment:
● Move the front passenger seat to it’s most forward position
● Then, open the rear parcel shelf access cover, and
● Push down on the button.
Now, you can fold down the passengers side rear seatback. The other way to fold the seatback down is to:
● Open the trunk lid
● pull these straps located in the trunk to unlatch the rear seatback,
● Then fold the rear seatback down.

To return the rear seatback to the upright position, push up the seatback until it securely locks into position.

You can lock the rear seats to block access to your trunk. To lock your seats,
● open the parcel shelf cover
● insert the mechanical key into the lock cylinder and twist to lock.
● Now, remove the mechanical key and close the cover.

If so equipped, your vehicle’s seats and steering wheel may be made from a material known as Alcantara. Regular care and cleaning is required in order to maintain interior appearance. Refer to your Owner's Manual, for more details on proper cleaning. For most localized stains, lukewarm water and soap can restore Alcantara to its factory condition.
