The Dragon Deck so Good They Named it After Me - Yugioh Edison Format Top 8 Deck Profile

Top 8 deck profile from my Playstation 5 tournament. Round by round coverage:

Round 1: Won 2-0 vs Diva Hero Beat. Both games were super close, was fortunate to dodge the topdeck miracle fusions long enough to win both games.

Round 2: Lost 1-2 vs Lightsworn. Won game 1 easily, then got steamrolled by charge + recharge shenanigans games 2 and 3 to fall to 1-1 on the day.

Round 3: Won 2-1 vs Vayu Turbo. Lost game 1 and was getting beat down game 2, thought I was gonna get 2-0'ed and end my day early. Was able to stabilize at 1800 life points and then flip return from the different dimension to otk, and then in game 3 was able to stick a redmd + drago and rode that to victory.

Round 4: Won 2-1 vs Hero Frog. Lost game 1 badly, went 2nd into turn 1 dupe lock and got cooked by monarchs. Game 2 mask of restrict was mvp, and then game 3 was a crazy back and forth game. I could tell he set a dust tornado and I had future fusion in hand, so I never activated it or set a trap and was able to apply some pressure while his treeborn was stuck in graveyard. He swung it back with a key miracle fusion, but I eventually finally got him to use his dust tornado on my call of the haunted and then was free to resolve my future fusion for the finishing blow.

Round 5: Won 2-0 vs Diva Hero. Game 1 was the first time all day I went first and opened future fusion, and I assumed I won on the spot. Instead, he was able to stall on a spirit reaper for a couple turns and was able to out my board of 5 monsters with a double miracle fusion play, and suddenly I was on the back foot. However, I drew upstart, then used it to draw into brain control (shout out 37 card deck) and used that in tandem with return from the different dimension to steal his stardust dragon, crash it into his absolute zero, and his absolute zero effect destroyed my wyverns that I brought back with return and I was able to use them to summon redmds that then carried me to victory. Game 2 I was winning until he dropped dark armed dragon, but then I once again top decked brain control on his dark armed for game.

Round 1 of Top Cut: Got a rematch against the hero frog player that I beat in swiss. Game 1 I once again go second, and I opened gold sarc and 5 normal summon monsters (not what you wanna see against frogs!). I also got trap dustshooted, and got blown out in 2 turns. Game 2 was super close, took me a bit too long to find my future fusion, and he was able to squeeze in lethal with a junk synchron into black rose dragon and then special summon a swap frog for game. Lost 0-2 to end my day there.

Hope you enjoyed the recap and profile! While it was a smaller tournament, the competition was really strong due to the big prizing drawing in good players. Every round I played there were no easy wins, so I'm thrilled I was able to get my first ever paper top with my signature deck. The first of many :).
