CHRISTMAS MOON

Описание к видео CHRISTMAS MOON

I first recorded Christmas Moon way back in 1990. I wrote the tune on January 1 of that year. This is a lonesome tune of love lost. Just piano, bass and vocal here. Less certainly seems best for the late-night, quiet nature of Christmas Moon. Rerecorded 2024

CHRISTMAS MOON
There’s a time, and a place in my heart
You drew a line, and left a space in my heart
You cut me open, like a surgeon with a knife
As I lay bleeding, you stole away into the night
And in the Midwestern town, with no one around
I caught that Christmas Moon, goin’ down

I’ve been blind, I’ll confess, from the start
A reach for you, and a place in your heart
But you have vanished, magician that you are
And I stand crying, reaching in the dark
And as I grope around, there’s peace to be found
Watching that Christmas Moon, going down

I go alone, without your face or your heart
Stripped to the bone, it’s a good place to start
I’ve stopped the bleeding, I’m patching up my heart
Abracadabra, oh the magic of my heart
Is in this Midwestern town, with just me around,
Watching the Christmas Moon, going down
