A dead body reanimated becomes a zombie, at times found in horror movies.
But in 2014, the largest of all viruses was discovered in a soil frozen for 34,000 years.
The size of Pithovirus sibericum is 1.5 microns, therefore larger than some bacteria.
But the creepy thing happened when the frozen virion was warmed-up and put in a Petri dish with amoebas, 34,000 years later.
Quite surprising, the zombie virus entered the cell, replicated, and killed the amoeba freeing itself to infect other cells.
Could global warming awaken other zombie viruses, next time lethal to humans?
