Ep. 79 PREPARING TWO MOSAIC SUBSTRATES, Flower motif mosaic lazy susan tray & the Mosaic Nativity.

This week I show how to prepare two substrates for mosaic - HydroBan board and some wood trays. Then I get to the fun part, finishing a flower motif mosaic on a lazy susan tray and grouting it! Finally, the Mosaic Nativity makes progress.

HydroBan board is a great substrate for mosaics, but it must be properly prepared! I show how to add hanging hardware, then wrap and add thinset to the edges. Next, I tackle a set of wooden round trays with stain and sealant. Then the fun begins! A flower motif mosaic takes shape with 3/8" vitreous glass tile on a $5 tray from Target! The last project is a leap forward on the Mosaic Nativity.
