This soundscape is designed to sink your whole body into calm. Knowing that deeper, darker colours help ground you all faster, I sought out one of the darkest - obsidian!

I asked my online oracle for the blueprint of the perfect Dark Obsidian Noise, a sound that could mirror the grounding, volcanic stillness of obsidian. Here’s the trio of elements it revealed:

Sub-Bass Drone
A low, steady hum that grounds like cooled volcanic stone. Heavy in the right way — helps anchor your thoughts and slow everything down.

Tectonic Rumble
Slow, subtle shifts in the low end, like the distant movement of the earth’s core. These textures are tuned to help nudge your system toward rest mode (parasympathetic state).

Molten Flow
Thick, fluid rumbles inspired by slow-moving magma. Smooth and continuous — designed to soften mental edges and create a sense of warmth and containment.

With that blueprint to hand, I went into my little sound sound lab and started building. I mixed some deep ambi-tones, elongated fabric and pebble scratching textures, underwater sounds from the hydro mic and carefully shaped the layers to make each element feel physical, something you can feel more than hear.

Use it as a sleep aid, a nervous system cleanse, or just a way to feel more grounded.
