国鉄標準モーターの花形として、日本全国でその乾いた雄叫びを響かせた「MT54形直流電動機」。
国鉄黄金時代の一端を担ったこのモーターですが、近年はMT54搭載車両が次々と引退し、もはや風前の灯です。
むかし撮りためた映像から、爆音動画コレクションとしてお送りします。

本動画の最後に419系を紹介しています。
419系は元寝台電車583系を改造した近郊形電車です。2012年までに全車廃車され、既に形式消滅しています。
最小限のコストで改造されたため、上段と中段の寝台部分は取り外されず、格納状態で固定されていました。近郊形として求められる加速性能を出すためにギア比を通勤電車並みに変更し、重量級車体をグイグイと加速させていました。その影響で最高速度は120→100km/hに落ち、本動画のように高速域ではMT54の大迫力爆音を楽しむことができました。

The 117 series was first introduced to replace the 113 series trains that had been providing special rapid service in the Osaka region on the Tokaido Main Line and Sanyo Main Line.

485 series
The 485 series is a Japanese limited express electric multiple unit type introduced in 1968.

419 series
Suburban electric multiple unit train type introduced in 1967.
They were converted from former 583 series sleeping car EMUs in the 1980s.
This train is all retired.
