The Power Of The Tongue | Inspirational & Motivational Video

The five sense organs are the ears, nose, eyes, skin and tongue. Each of these organs does a unique work on its own. Together, they maintain an essential and general balance in the well being of a person. The main function of the tongue in this sense is to taste. But more importantly, the tongue plays a major role in speech.

Talking, particularly, is considered a very powerful ability. We are advised to be ever conscious and careful of what we say. In the court of law, a person’s utterance can render them guilty. Radio and television stations censor certain words, when on air. Public speakers are reminded to be mindful of the words they use in their address to an audience.

Parents are extra vigilant about the language used in front of their children, especially those still in the early, formative years. All of this begs the question, “Why does speech and language warrant such strong warnings?” After all, there is a saying that words don’t break bones. Why all the bother, then? This is simply because, with the ability to talk comes an even greater responsibility. At some point or the other, whether to God or before the law, we all must be held accountable for what we say.

The tongue is a potent weapon. It possesses equal power to build up and to destroy. A simple comment can affect a person’s outlook of himself either positively or negatively. Countless relationships, homes and alliances have been broken because somebody said the wrong thing. The tongue can take you to where you don’t want to go. People have found themselves in precarious situations because of a thing they said carelessly.

Some have talked their way to jail, out of a job, into expulsion and disgrace. Not only does the tongue have the power to influence negativity, it can bring about wonderful results too. The entire earth, in all its vastness and splendor, came into existence by direct obedience and yielding to the power of what God said. Most of the miracles Jesus performed happened as He spoke: “Lazarus, come forth”. “Rise up and walk. “Your sins have been forgiven”.

Wedding vows are sealed by the words of the bride and groom. Even repentance and coming to the kingdom of God is considered incomplete without the confession of sins and verbal declaration of acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and savior. History is full of the realities and testimonies of the power of the tongue. If you have been ignorant or careless about it, now is the time to intentionally familiarize your self with control and harness the great power of the tongue.

The place of prayer is so important because it is there that the efficiency of the spoken word is activated. So many Christians, when faced with, go about complaining and murmuring and bemoaning the state of affairs. As God’s children, the right thing to do in such situations would be to speak directly to the challenge. Not to talk about it, or around it, but to it, straight up. Jesus speaking in Mark 11:23

“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will done for him [in accordance with God’s will] ."
